the beginning, Mr Jose Casares, one of the two founding members, has remained
as close as possible to the pearls producers thus avoiding intermediaries
and remaining highly competitive with prices. After many years of researches,
the company now collaborates with some selected growers in Indonesia and
French Polynesia. In 1999, Shanghai Gems became the largest European importer
from Tahiti according to the official Tahitian export statistic. Company
